Food Assistance (FA) is issued by the USDA through county job and family services agencies and is used to purchase grocery items at participating grocery stores.
We look at your gross monthly income (before taxes) to determine if you may qualify for food assistance. FA is a needs based program. Work activity participation will be determined at application.
How Do I Apply?
You can file an application in person at our agency during regular business hours, by mailing in a completed application, or by faxing a completed application. You can also apply online at odjfsbenefits.ohio.gov.
Applications may be dropped off in person on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm and Tuesday from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm.
You can speed your application up by bringing:
- Proof of your last 30 days income
- Proof of your Social Security numbers for everyone
- Identification for the head of the household
- Proof of residency
- Proof of rent or mortgage payments, homeowner's insurance and property tax
- Proof of utility expenses
