The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) may be able to help you get the skills you need to get a good job or start a new career. If you are interested in career training, you may be eligible for an Individual Training Account, referred to as an ITA. The Champaign County Department of Job and Family Services WIOA program approves training courses for in-demand occupations for approved schools on the Workforce Inventory of Education and Training.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program in NOT an entitlement program, all participants must meet the eligibility and appropriateness criteria before an Individual Training Account (ITA) for training services can be issued. All WIOA participants do not need formal classroom training to be employable. Some may need only a few classes of enhancement and others may need only soft skills enhancement. The local WIOA process flow is designed to ensure compliance is met prior to approval of ITA’s for training services.
WIOA counselors and the schools may be able to assist you in finding grants, loans and/or scholarships to help you pay for training costs; WIOA funding is last dollar funding. All customers MUST apply for a Pell Grant to use for schools that are PELL eligible. Attending an Orientation Session is the first step to enrolling. At this session you will learn about available training programs and eligibility requirements. Contact OhioMeansJobs Champaign County to sign up today.
