Child protective services is not for everyone. Some days will be hard. Some days, you will feel broken. However, most days, you will feel rewarded knowing you made a difference. You kept a child safe. You helped reunite a family. You may not get a thank you, but you will know when you go out in the community and see that child playing at the park or on a sports team, see that family grocery shopping, you will know what it took to ensure their safety and promote their well-being, particularly in situations where they may have been vulnerable or at risk and that is the only "thank you" you will need.
