The Champaign County Department of Job and Family Services (CCDJFS) has launched an updated website, www.champaigndjfs.org, streamlined to make it easier for visitors to find and connect with the services they need. CCDJFS Director Stacy Cox adds that the new website furthers the agency’s efforts over the last several years “to make our services more easily accessible to the public in person and online.” Digital access to services became increasingly important during the pandemic when offices were temporarily closed to the public. The new website is less complicated than CCDJFS’s previous website so that visitors can locate the services and information they need faster – including OhioMeansJobs workforce services, financial and health assistance, child support, and family and children services, including adult protective services. The website also features CCDJFS news, posts from the agency’s Facebook page, CCDJFS job opportunities, and links to email addresses for submitting applications and paperwork for services – to help those who prefer the convenience of online access. Cox adds that the website also offers easy access to Champaign County’s Prevention, Retention and Contingency (PRC) plan and program application. PRC provides a wide range of temporary assistance to help qualified low-income families gain self-sufficiency. Also on the website, CCDJFS is debuting a new logo. The logo reflects the scope of the agency’s services and the people it serves, Cox says. While the agency’s previous logo featured a stylized family – father, mother and children – the new, abstract logo symbolizes the agency’s broader reach, which includes single-parent families, senior citizens, children, as well as businesses and their employees through workforce development services. Cox adds that the logo borrows from the colors CCDJFS uses in its annual awareness campaigns – blue, for child abuse prevention; purple, for elder abuse awareness; and green, for child support and fraud prevention. “The logo interweaves the different programs and the different people we serve – not just families,” Cox said. April 26, 2021 Contact: Tom Betti Phone: (614) 981-2949 Email: [email protected] Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Warns Unemployment Claimants About Scam Texts, Emails, and Websites Designed to Steal Personal Information COLUMBUS, OHIO –Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) Interim Director Matt Damschroder is alerting the public of fake websites that closely mirror the agency’s official website that are attempts to steal personal and banking information. The addresses of the fake websites in question are: unemployment-ohio-gov.com and ohio-gov.cn. “We know that individuals are receiving text messages and emails that link to these phony websites. It’s important to pay attention to know whether they are legitimate,” said Interim Director Damschroder. “Please look closely before clicking sites that look like the real deal but aren’t.” Account security is a top priority for the State of Ohio. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost informed ODJFS about the fake site, unemployment-ohio-gov.com. Their review found that a Russian server houses the website, using a Chinese domain name. Customers alerted ODJFS to the illegitimate site ohio-gov.cn. To avoid potential fraud Ohioans should: • Ignore all unsolicited text messages and never click on hyperlinks in emails or text messages that look suspicious. • Log in each week to your account and review personal information such as physical address, email address, and banking information. • Remember that ODJFS will not contact you to ask for your username or password. If individuals notice a change in their account information, they should: • Report immediately by calling 833-658-0394. ODJFS will then work with you to verify your identity and provide you with next steps, such as changing your Personal Identification Number (PIN) and reporting the theft to law enforcement. ODJFS continues to work closely with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General and the FBI’s Cyber Crime Unit to shut down fraudulent activities and identify and apprehend criminals. |
